Twitter Developers. Want to start playing with the richness of Twitter annotations but don’t want to wait for Twitter to make them available? We have something you’re going to enjoy! Today we’re happy to announce the immediate availability of our very own Twitter-compatible API complete with Annotations support!
Cliqset has always been about providing users and developers alike with the richest activity stream available. This API makes it simple for developers who’re familiar with building for Twitter to head on over to Cliqset and with annotations support, get they a head start on a feature that’s going to change what’s possible with a tweet.
So get building on Cliqset and give your apps access to more than just Twitter. Give them access 80+ of the most popular social sites on the web!
Cliqset has always been a big supporter of open standards and there aren’t many in the social space that don’t support. Take OpenID, OAuth, PubSubHubbub and Activity Streams to name of a few. One of the more recent protocols we’ve added support for is called “Salmon“.
What is Salmon? Simply put, it’s a messaging protocol designed to help users interact with each other beyond the boundaries of a single social network or website. Users can share content and carry on real-time conversations one on one or in large groups.
Cliqset and Status.net are two of the first to have implemented it but we won’t be the last. There is a lot of momentum behind distributed social networking (DiSo) and before long we expect to see a large network of Salmon-enabled services around the web.
With this in mind, and because most users aren’t currently familiar with Salmon (as it should be), we thought it would be fun to put out a quick demonstration of how Salmon can be used by users communicate between Status.net and Cliqset.
You can now add Google Analytics to your Cliqset profile and see who, when and where you’re engaging. We’ll enable analytics on your profile, curated streams as well as all activity detail pages.
Fail Whale got you down? Rate limit exceeded? Tweets inaccessible? We know how you feel. Fortunately there’s a solution. It’s time to upgrade your Twitter experience with Cliqset.
By enabling Twitter on your Cliqset account you’ll have access to the entire Twitterverse including all of your friends, followers and everything you love about Twitter. And guess what? When Twitter goes down, you won’t even know about it. Your friends, tweets and conversations keep flowing without a hiccup. How do we do it? Cliqset makes a backup all of your Twitter content, making it instantly accessible any time you need it, even when Twitter can’t.
Cliqset doesn’t end with just Twitter either. We support over 80 of your favorite social sites from around the web. Sites like Foursquare, Facebook and Flickr. All to provide you with a more complete picture of the people you follow; more than 140 characters ever could. Combine that with real-time discussions, inline videos and photos and even file sharing, Cliqset is where you want to be.
So forget the aggravation of the Fail Whale and upgrade your Twitter experience with Cliqset. Sign up now!
We’ve been talking about it for a quite while but it’s finally here. Cliqset 2.0 is live!
What’s it in it? A lot. We’ve completely redesigned the UI, built deeper integration with the most popular social services and made it much easier to share, discover and discuss with your friends and family around the web.
Let’s start with Twitter. Twitter is now fully integrated into the Cliqset experience. What does that mean? It means when you add Twitter to your Cliqset account all of content you’d normally receive in Twitter will flow into Cliqset in an elegant and enhanced way. DMs, replies, mentions, even Twitter search! You can interact with your Twitter friends just as you would with any other Cliqset user. And when they inevitably join Cliqset, we’ll automatically follow them here too. Instead of just their tweets, you’ll see their Posterous posts, Flickr photos, YouTube favorites all in a rich way 140 characters could never do.
We’ve also added a slick curation feature. You can now create curated streams of content from Twitter and any of the other 80+ social sites we’ve integrated. Other users can subscribe to these streams from your profile page. When you see something in a stream you want to curate, just click the ‘Save to’ option and select the curation stream you’d like to save it to. It’ll be immediately send to your subscribers in real-time.
You’ll also want to check out the Explore page on Cliqset. From there you can search for and subscribe to users and groups not only on Cliqset but also on Twitter and Google Buzz. Don’t worry about whether they’ve joined Cliqset yet, when you follow them, what they do on that service will automatically appear in your stream on Cliqset, just like any other user.
There’s a ton of going on in Cliqset 2.0, but we’ll leave it to you to check out for yourself. If you haven’t already signed up, what are you waiting for?
Sorry for the lack of content making to our blog recently. We’re working on something big and haven’t had much time to write. What are we working on exactly? Well, only time will tell, but if you ask me, our next release will be the most significant of any thus far…
SXSW-bound? We’re psyched that so many of you have enjoyed connecting on our Cliqset-powered Mashable Austin Realtime site — but we’ve cooked up something else. It’s called the Crowd, and it will keep you in touch with all the activity around Austin throughout the conference.
The Crowd serves you up a digestible summary of where and when SXSW attendees are hanging out and checking-in with a variety of social and geo services (Brightkite, Cliqset, Flickr, Foursquare, Gowalla, Qik, Twitter). With bar graphs lining the top of the Web application, the Crowd breaks down geo-activity by day and even by hour to display spikes in geo-check-ins. Or, you can choose to focus on where activity occurs, reflected in a giant Google map of Austin. Of course, you can toggle on and off these social services you’d like to view. By clicking on the orange dots across the Google map, indicating posted activities, you can check out not only the user who posted, but also the full status update, photo, or tweet.
So don’t wander around SXSW alone — sign up to the Crowd with Twitter or Cliqset and find out where the action is Or check out the late night tweets and check-ins that happened the night before. Just something fun for SXSW.
Hey Cliqset,
We’re powering Mashable’s Austin Realtime online community, a place to connect with other folks heading to SXSW. Sponsored by Sony Electronics, Austin Realtime lets you check out other conference-goers based on interests (pizza, iPhones, social media, etc.) or based on location as we’ve enabled location-aware services. And to keep things interesting, attendees can vote on folks they most admire or whose content they enjoy reading to influence Austin’s Top 10 Most Favorited Attendees rankings. Dependent on votes, the winner will receive a Mashable prize.
To get set up and connected before you head to SXSW, all you need to do is go to Austin Realtime and integrate with your Cliqset account. Then you’ll be ready to go, viewing and sharing activities from the Austin Realtime network.
And Cliqset is heading to SXSW, so find us on Austin Realtime: Darren, Charlie, Jeff and David. And no pressure to “favorite” the Cliqset team…
Oh, and don’t forget to RSVP for Mashable’s MashBash 2010 which we’re sponsoring along with Sony. We’re expecting around 1600 guests, and it takes place on Sunday, March 14 at 10:00 p.m. at Buffalo Billiards in Austin, Texas. The event is open to all SXSWi badge holders. To RSVP, visit: http://sxswi.eventbrite.com/
It’s been a busy month. Last week, we went live with our Evernote integration, and we rolled out a number of new features:
Google Buzz
You love it, you hate it – it has certainly created buzz. As you begin to experiment with Buzz, Cliqset allows you to stream in your Buzz updates in real-time so that they don’t clutter your GMail interface.
FourSquare
FourSquare has been added to our list of services – now all your friends on Cliqset will know what bar you’re at, where you’re eating lunch, or what location you’ve added to your mayor portfolio. If you have yet try out FourSquare, we think you should give it a shot since they just rolled out their location-based platform to everyone. Check us out on FourSquare while your setting up the integration.
Tweet Viewing
We’re now displaying the actual tweeted media in your streams – whenever someone tweets a picture or video, the media will show up in the stream as shown below. If it’s a photo, you’ll see it in your feed, if it’s a video you’ll be able to easily watch it right in your stream.
FriendFeed Contact Importing
New users of Cliqset now have the ability to import contacts from FriendFeed so they’ll start with a base group of friends, and already have interesting and familiar content streaming through their activity feed. Simply select the FriendFeed box when you’re signing up, and we’ll do the rest!
Cliqset wants to make sure you’re getting the most out of your time spent on the Web, and we hope this most recent batch of updates can help you do that. Keep checking in to see what else we have in store and please keep the feedback coming in. We’ll see you in Austin!
